a builder grade bathroom transformation with Lowe’s

September 21, 2015

So remember that time I flew to Raleigh to do a cool little project with Lowe’s?! Well…it’s finally time to show y’all what we created! I joined a couple of other talented ladies and we were each challenged to design and renovate a builder grade bathroom for under $1,000! We show you how to take a standard bathroom and make it into something special each in our own fun video. Take a look at my video and photos below showing how to transform your bathroom to get a more rustic modern feel.

  1. We’re purchasing a house and the bathroom is builder grade (but also terribly ugly . . . imagine the tiniest vanity you’ve ever seen in your life covered with brown faux-aged laminate). This video gives some great ideas! Now I just need to figure out what to do with the tub. I’m assuming we’ll have to replace it since it’s one of those that has the attached faux tiles . . . I really don’t know how to explain that but basically it’s a tub and weird white wall all in one. Yuck.

  2. I love the transformation, of course, but I was mostly just excited to see you in action! It adds so much more life to your blog for me. I’d like to submit a request for more videos!

  3. ditto to Heather’s comment! I’ve been following the blog and your work for-evah, and it’s so great to see you–living, breathing, real life person! (Also, I think it bodes badly for our society that I was totally relieved/refreshed that you talk like a normal woman and seem so down to earth?) Rockstar. xx

  4. You are so talented. I love to DIY my house always! I love the way you decorate your bathroom! Looks so modern for the cabinet and the floor tile. Thanks for sharing some great ideas to us!

  5. I think you were really lucky to get a bathroom with such a great tub surround and a modern-styled vanity… but I NEVER would have thought of manipulating bead board like that, and I think adding the sink on top really makes it feel custom. I really loved all three of the builder grade transformations, but I think yours might be the most doable. I want to thank you and the other two lovely designers for taking on this challenge, because it’s so nice to see really creative and impactful redesigns on a more manageable budget!!
