Before + After: Client Z to the E to the N

MERRY GD CHRISTMAS ERRBODY.

Not only is it my fave time of year, but I am about to drop my fave kinda post….THE GLORIOUS  before + after - it feels like Christmas morning ALREADY - am I right!?

Ohhhhh #ClientZtotheEtotheN… It’s been SO fun to work with this young & hip, newly engaged couple over yonder in Venice Beach. We did a whole do over on their pad with a few remodels here and there. I’m officially OBSESSED with how everything turned out and the color palette – I’d zen it up in this beach retreat any day! They wanted a laid back, California eclectic, boho beach pad and I think we gave them just that… What do you all think?

  1. Such a breath of fresh air! As usual you combine texture, interesting hardware, beautiful art, and so much interest into one stunning combination! Your work is a continual source of inspiration!

  2. As always, it’s perfection.
Would you be able to give us suggestions of good frame suppliers? Your large white basics are always spot-on, but surprisingly difficult to find.

  3. We love your whole vibe. The combination of clean lines with interesting fabrics and textures. Your style would work well in our new house. Hopefully we can get together soon. Happy Holidays!

    • Yes, my question as well! Looks like white carera marble but would love to know the name. Also curious as to the color of the cabinets – are they charcoal or black? The paint name would be so helpful! xo

  4. I am freaking out over your talent, Amber!!!! Can I hire you for a job up in Nor Cal? I live in Mill Valley, just over the Golden Gate Bridge.
    Loving your work so much….
    Jill

  5. Truly beautiful, I do love your work, when can we see something different? All of your work is almost exactly the same, I appreciate your commitment to your style, but wonder if it will evolve at all? This project, while lovely to look at, seems formulaic, uninspired, and comprised of ideas/materials left over from any one of the projects that came before it. You clearly possess a talent and beautiful aesthetic, would love to see some creativity and more nuanced or sophisticated point of view thrown in. Truly appreciate your work and posts, looking forward to seeing more!

    • Hey Margo, These clients wanted “my look”. Try to remember, sometimes I am specifically being hired to give a client “my look” and that is what I did on this project. The clients were happy and thats all that matters, so I am happy with the results.

  6. How much input to clients get? I see your taste and point of view everywhere, but nothing that is unique to this couple. Kinda bored, your projects just all blend in together.

    • Hi Jen,
These clients really wanted “my style”….specifically, which in fact is the style that I have spent years curating. I am sorry to hear you are “bored” with what you see here. Luckily, there is a wide world of internet with plenty of other designers who may be a lot less boring.

    • Boring? I’d love to see your house, Jen… Or how you might have designed this space. If you don’t like it then move on. Amber is so talented and we are all lucky she shares her work on a public platform.

      • Thanks for defending me Kerri, however we are all entitled to our opinions and by no means must everyone who visits my tiny corner of the internet “LOVE” what they see. I would only hope however, that if you did not like what I got going on around here that you would simply just go somewhere else! Good vibes only man!

  7. What a wonderful project! I enjoy following all of your projects.
I have the same type of dark stained kitchen cabinets. Would love to know your paint process if you reused the original cabinetry.

  8. Massive congrats on ache accomplished project. Clearly far from boring. Have been looking for wooden stools with leather seating which were used in kitchen… @Amber or anyone else on here know where we could locate?

    • Hi Kelli,
I try to not only respond to negative comments….but to be honest, I have a few people who help me on the back end of the blog who point out when there are comments that I need to personally address. By no means do I want to come off rude by not responding to sweet comments, so apologies!Thank you if you have left a kind comment in the past and I have ignored it!!

      Happy New Year

  10. Beautiful design! Would you mind sharing the source for the black pot with the ponytail palm? I’m in love and can’t find something similar anywhere.

  11. This is a fabulous house!!! I love every detail!
I would never ask for a source on anything from your designs out of respect (I do love the fact that you are not sharing everything, I think it’s very professional and courteous of you) but… I am closing on my first house and the master bedroom windows are placed pretty much the same way they are in this house (although it is 3 windows and not one huge window) and I have been trying to figure out whitch way to go with window treatments. I will do bamboo blinds but would love to have curtains also. This corner track situation is genious. But all of my searches end up with a ceiling mount shower curtain track and it is not long enough on one side to accomodate my windows…
Would you be able to at least point me to a manufacturer/contractor who could help me find the track of my dreams? :-)
Keep up the great work and Happy New Years :-)

    • Hey Sil, I’m looking for the same things you were a few months ago. Seems like Amber never responded to you on here, but wondering if you ever found the corner track system or the bamboo blinds. I’m looking for the exact same things for my remodel. Thanks!!

  12. Thanks for your response Amber! I was really just hoping you’d answer some of the sweet comments asking for more details on the design, for my own selfish reasons :) LOVE your work, keep it up!

  13. BEAUTIFUL! On the white bedding in the master, is that an indigo fabric? Do you have a source you can share for something like that? Also, does it bleed onto the white bedding?

    LOVE your work!

  14. Hi Amber,

I love “your look”! This project was a home run in my books. What is your “go-to” white paint colour? I know it’s hard to tell online but I found the Super White that Emily Henderson uses to be quite an warm off white. I’m looking for the whitest of white without going “off the shelf cold”.

Hope to hear from you! Thanks!!

    Jessica

  15. Beautiful work! I am so intrigued/perplexed by viewers who mention wanting to see a different look from you. As artists we work hard creating our own style, hoping that our aesthetic will attract clients. You have obviously had great success with this. Clients are hiring you for your look, so of course there will be similarities and crossovers with your designs. Anyhow, congrats on creating such beautiful spaces. I couldn’t help but find myself annoyed by the comments asking to see a new look.

    • Echoing Evynn’s sentiment here, your style and successes are truly enviable. I love seeing your work and can always spot an “Amber” design that has been reposted by another. It’s no wonder people seek out your aesthetic, you have a gift! I do wonder though, do you ever feel pigeonholed or creatively smothered by people wanting to stay within specific confines? Do you ever, simply as a creative, have the urge to do something wildly different?

  19. Love the bathroom with the single modern sink. Can you tell me where you bought it? Also, my husband was wondering where the p-trap is located for the sink?

  34. Amber, this is gorgeous! I’m kind of surprised at how dated the before is since it was built in 2008 (I just read the feature on Domaine). Would you be willing to share where you got the tile for the powder bath? It’s so beautiful!

  38. Hi! I just found your website through a pinterest search. Love your work! I have been looking at tile for months and absolutely love the black hex you used in this bathroom. I know designers can’t always share sources, but are you able to comment on what kind of material it is (slate, cement, porcelain, etc)? Thank you!!

  39. May I have source info for black and white tiles, the vanity sink and stand. It seems many of us like the combo and want these in our remodel projects. Thank you.

  40. Beautiful project and results! I’m curious to know the name and brand of the paint color you used on the walls? It looks bright and the space almost glows. Thanks!
